Issunboshi: The Inch High Samruai

A project for Drawing for Film. Wrapping it up with some color I should post next week. This was from the first half of the semester. (The second guy with horns is the first version of the first guy with horns... that sounds confusing.)

beautiful character designs Ryan. And here I was thinking you couldnt pull of cartoony characters. Some of these remind me of Milt Kahl's stuff, especially the hands. Nice composition on the backgrounds too.

Sweet work as usual Ryan! Your draftsmanship is incredible!

I read one of the past posts and tried out the study you described to Romaine. Very useful. That really forces you to make decisions instead of just color picking. Great advice:)

By the way, i just got back from a painting trip down in Zions National Park (red rock country). It was awesome! That place is just incredible. I had the french easel rush delivered right after we talked. It came with a free carrying backpack, and turned out perfect.
